What It means to be a Missionary Disciple and how Catholic Mission displayed it.

Catholic Mission exemplifies the concept of a missionary disciple as outlined in Romans 12 by embodying the call to be a living sacrifice and serving others selflessly, as Jesus did for us through his sacrifice on the cross. Romans 12 urges believers to offer themselves as living sacrifices, to live in humility, and to contribute to the well-being of others, reflecting the inherent dignity of every person. Catholic Mission manifests this teaching through its commitment to assisting marginalised communities, as seen in their work in Sri Lanka. Amidst severe economic and political crises, where many families face extreme shortages of basic/average necessities and increased food prices, Catholic Mission has stepped in to provide essential resources such as food and shelter, tailored to the local cultural context. This direct action aligns with the call to love one's neighbour as oneself and to treat others with the same compassion and care that we would desire for ourselves(Golden Rule and Greatest Commandment). By offering practical support and demonstrating solidarity with those in dire circumstances, the Catholic Mission not only fulfils the Golden Rule but also acts in accordance with the Greatest Commandment to love others. Their efforts clearly reflect Paul's teachings in Romans 12 about living a life devoted to God through acts of service and sacrifice, thus showcasing the true spirit of a missionary disciple.
