Socktober engages Australian students to make a difference by raising awareness and critical funds for mission programs supporting children from disadvantaged and vulnerable backgrounds in many countries around the world.
How It Works
Students, schools and individuals around Australia participate in Socktober by registering online, choosing a fundraising target, and then sharing their page with family and friends. By participating in Socktober, you can kick goals for good to raise funds for mission programs that support education, healthcare, food and water, for children in need.
Our History
Socktober started with a simple idea: to combine the universal love for soccer with a powerful cause. Since our beginning, we've grown into a movement that has inspired thousands to take action and make a difference for children around the world.

Mongolia 2024
In 2024, Socktober will raise funds for programs like the Don Bosco Caring Center in Mongolia, a safe home for children who have been abandoned, are homeless, or are fleeing desperate situations. The Caring Center aims to provide hope for these children when they need it most.
OUR SOCKTOBER MISSION
To empower school communities by celebrating and engaging with mission through a Head, Heart and Hands model.
World Mission Month: a unique celebration
Here in Australia, October marks World Mission Month, a celebration of the global work of the Church and the dedication of missionaries, both religious and lay, as they reach out and support children and communities in need around the world.
On World Mission Sunday, which falls on 20 October 2024, parish communities around the world will gather to pray for and raise funds to support the work of thousands of crucial church-run programs. The following Wednesday, 23 October, is Children’s Mission Day, which you and your school can celebrate fully through Socktober.
Shaping Socktober Together
Socktober is a truly collaborative initiative, shaped by the ideas and creativity of students from schools across the country. Through the Schools Co-design program, students actively participate in Socktober and then contribute their feedback and suggestions to help shape its future direction. This inclusive approach ensures that Socktober remains engaging, relevant, and impactful for young people. By involving students in the co-design process, we not only empower them to take ownership of their fundraising efforts but also foster a sense of community and shared purpose. Their insights and innovations are invaluable in making Socktober a dynamic and evolving campaign that continues to inspire and drive positive change.
