HOW SOCKTOBER

WORKS

What is Socktober?

Socktober for Mission Month cultivates the passion of students to rise up, engage their local community, and take action against poverty through the world game of soccer. It provides young people in Australia with the opportunity to lead in mission, encouraging them to think not only of what they will do to help, but why they will do it.

Why Soccer?

The world game of soccer has a rare ability to unify people of all ages and backgrounds. Recognised and endorsed by Pope Francis and the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference, sport, especially soccer, is seen as a powerful tool for building community, fostering dialogue, and drawing young people closer to the teachings of Christ. Through initiatives like Socktober, soccer also becomes a way to raise awareness and inspire action for those in need around the world.
