Create the next socktober sockball

A once-in-a-century challenge for schools across Australia

After years of travelling the world, countless kicks, and more repairs than we'd care to admit,
our beloved Socktober sockball has finally played its last match.

Fret not! This isn't the end.

As we celebrate 100 years of World Mission Sunday, Catholic Mission is inviting schools across Australia
to create what could become the next official Socktober sockball.

Could your school create the sockball that inspires the next generation?

The Challenge

Gather your students, collect recycled materials, and create a brand new sockball.

Once you've created it, put it to the test. Give it a few kicks, organise a class game or even a mini tournament, and see if your creation is ready to travel the world and inspire others to kick goals for good.

How to Enter

⚽ Create a sockball using recycled materials.

⚽Put it to the test with your class, school or parish community.

⚽Prepare a short letter or video explaining why your sockball should become the next official Socktober sockball.

⚽Submit a photo of your sockball via the Socktober website by 2 October 2026.

What could your school win?

The overall winning sockball will:

⚽ Become the new official Socktober sockball

⚽ Be unveiled during the 100 Years of World Mission Sunday Art Exhibition in Sydney

Be recognised during a special presentation

Inspire generations of young people to become changemakers through Socktober, perhaps for the next century of mission

Each participating diocese will also select a local winner, with the winning sockball proudly displayed at its local Catholic Mission office as a symbol of hope, creativity and mission.
