Helping with the economic situation in Malawi!

While basic necessities and needs are overlooked as a common right in our society, only 35% of children graduate primary school in Malawi, South Africa, while approximately 4 million people (22% of the population) struggle with food shortage. The lack of education and food security is mainly caused by poverty from overpopulation. Severe floods have destroyed farmlands and infrastructure, causing families to migrate into already crowded areas, overcrowding classrooms with a ratio of one teacher to more than one hundred students! Students cannot have their learning needs met with only one teacher, and schools are scarce so they must travel long distances on foot each day. Along with this, over 70% of children in Malawi suffer from undernourishment because of soaring food prices. We must approach this need with solidarity, promoting the common good and human dignity to radiate God's love in the world. We must be the first movers so that every community may flourish.

Join me in the socktober mission. I invite you to participate in the sockball challenge using old scraps to make a soccerball. Reflect on the difficulties and differences of children's privileges in Malawi, and notice how this ragged soccer ball is incomparable to our normal ones. Please empathetically post this online for awareness! 

Another step that you could take is kindly donating to my Socktober page, a small donation will still make a difference and help the situation in Malawi. This money will be funding infrastructure and resources for the St Peter's school in Kampira, and local projects that provide food security. If we have many people contributing, we will have a great impact and spread God’s love across the world
